"Hey Bailey. I'm Kavok Gout (its a wierd name I know. its spoken like Kav-ark Got) and I'm a member of your website. Um I register on your site as Kevin Gout that is what I go by here in America. Please forgive any grammar mistakes or spelling error English is my second language. I'm from Germany and I moved here to Orlando of Florida about 7 months ago actually. Well anyways I should probably get to the point of my info message. I was since 4 diagnosed of Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome I'm 11 now. I have the movement tic most of time. But sometime I repeat things in my head. Like if you said I like to run I'd say in my head I like to run like its a thought or something. My father and mother do not believe this is true. They think I make up. Am I just go crazy or is this really a type of tic. Does this happen ever to you. What is this called. Please help me out so I can prove to parents that I not lie. Thank you Bailey. Your site is verry helpful I like the Daily Tip part its cool I also like the music on About Me part. Only thing I like not is that there is not option for members to make page about them like profile or info page like myspace has that would be verry cool to have I think you should do that I would like that so would other members. You do that must. Agan thank you for help. kevin."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Kevin,

My friend lives in Germany! I'm actually part German too.. To answer your first question regarding if that tic is really a tic, yes it is. It's called a "Mental Tic". Mental Tics are much like when an OCD sufferer automatically counts their steps or breaths. Instead of repeating what you hear out loud, you do so in your head. But don't worry, you're not alone! I do the same thing ALL the time. It's a great tool for remembering what your teacher says, but it is a hassle when trying to concentrate on something else. It actually is scientifically proven to be the cause of stress-related anxiety attacks and frustration headaches. Unfortunately, there no cure or preventative medication or treatment for these types of tics YET. But, what I do to help my mental tics subside quickly is to recite the alphabet within my head while someone is speaking or when I do not want to have mental tics. Eventually this will become an involuntary action, and you won't even notice that you're doing it! It'll keep your brain busy so it does not repeat what you hear. Hope this works my friend! Oh, and if your parents STILL don't believe you after this post, I will email them the scientific proof of the existance of mental tics. Good luck Kevin, and thank you for your information request!

Sincererly,

Bailey Womack
